Out of My Bondage

Welcome!  After much pondering, I have realized that I spent many, many years in physical, emotional and spiritual bondage.  I am thanking God for the freedom and release He has given to me.  Thus, the name of this blog.

I am a Titus 2 mentoring wife and mom.  I have been married to Pastor Terry since May 31, 1980, and have four adult children, who were homeschooled all their lives.

I spent 25 of those years struggling with health issues including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, severe acid reflux and what appeared to be an early onset of osteoporosis. My pain was all over and pretty much constant.

In July, 2010, I stopped the sugar and grains and it made a huge difference.  Though I toyed on and off with grains for some time, ultimately, I found that grains are not good for me and I am now grain and sugar free.

I will be sharing my journey and my converted recipes. I am praying that all those who visit will be blessed, and by God’s grace, freed from any bondage in their lives.

I have truly come “out of my bondage”!

To God be the glory!

Hello! I am a 23 year old Christian mommy of a two year old and just about to have a second. In fact, I’m 8 days past my due date as of today. I need help breaking out of my bondage to unhealthful foods. I suffer from yeast infections and while breastfeeding my first I had several cases of mastitits. I successfully went low carb this summer but have fallen off the wagon lately and am back into a bingeing cycle that I can’t seem to stop. The Lord is telling me to give up the foods I am unable to control and I am ready to surrender to Him. But I need some advice and support from someone who has done it before me. I also am a bit afraid to call eating sugar sin. Could you help me understand more why you have taken that step? If you could respond I would be very appreciative! Thanks!

  2. Dear Brianna,

When my younger sister was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and one of my friends, also younger than me died of cancer, the LORD opened my eyes to the fact that my body, as a Believer, is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. The Scripture says that whatever we eat, drink, say or do, do it for the glory of God.

I knew that my weight and my health were a result of bad eating habits and I became convicted that I needed to change from bad habits to good eating habits – for HIS GLORY!

That has been confirmed over and over these past two years. My pain was reduced, I lost weight and my energy was increased. I look and feel better than I did 10 years ago! I am not bragging on myself. Many friends have told me that I look younger and healthier.

Young Living Essential Oils helped me to feel enough better to face my bad eating habits. I used the oils for several months before I realized that I needed to make permanent changes in my eating habits. The oils and stevia helped me to go through the sugar withdrawal.

The LORD honored my desire to be healthier and He gave me creativity to convert my recipes to sugar and grain free. I took banana nut cake to church tonight. It was sugar and grain free and was a huge hit! God is good!

I count my days off sugar, like an alcoholic counts the days off alcohol. That is how I hold myself accountable to the LORD and myself.

    God bless you,

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. Today is my first day off sugar. Please pray for me as I begin this journey. Jesus is good and I do this that I may know Him better and be a better servant of Him!

  3. Keep your eyes focused on Him and give Him the glory and HE will strengthen you for the task at hand. He will give you creativity and JOY in serving Him with a healthier body!

  4. Did you prepare? Do you have Sweetleaf Stevia on hand to put in water or tea to meet the need for sweet? I am praying for you.

  5. I have Fibromyalgia and am reaching out for help! On a disability budget and cannot afford alot of costly remedies. Does anybody have any suggestions for me to relieve my pain and live a normal life?

  6. Eliminating grains and sugars will give you enough money to buy better meats and veggies.. Lots of green veggies and carrots help fight the fungus that causes the fibro. Check out the section on WHAT DO YOU EAT? and you will see a food list of recommended foods to eat to heal your body and overcome autoimmune disorders like fibro.

  7. LOVE your blog!!! I have nominated you for the Liebster Award! 🙂 Feel free to check it out and see what you think. If you aren’t interested or don’t have time to complete it, that is ok, too! 🙂
