2018 For the Glory of GOD! Choose Joy!

I had some challenges in 2017.  I am sure most of us had some to various degrees.  One of mine slowed me down to the point of almost stopping all progress in my life.  Many of my plans for 2017 were derailed.  The few things I did manage to complete were more difficult than in the past.

In the midst of my personal challenges, the LORD continued to bless us!

We gained two new grandchildren in 2017, which gives us a total of 5.  They are every one precious and oh, so different!

Our Young Living team continued to grow in spite of my own challenges.  We were privileged to go to Australia with Young Living and it was an amazing trip!

I have been pondering how to stay on track with my goals for 2018 and the LORD brought the verses to my mind about doing things for His glory.

“For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. ”  1 Corinthians 6:20

“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”  Colossians 3:17

I am committed to doing only activities, eating food and drink and speaking words that bring glory to the LORD in 2018.  Sometimes this is hard as I stand alone, meaning I take my own food and eat differently than everyone else.  Even when I am with my health and wellness friends, I am still different because I cannot compromise for an event or a party and still stay on track.

I cannot keep a clear conscience and “take a break” from glorifying God with all I say, eat, drink and do.

I took a quiz on Facebook to determine “my word” for 2018 and it was JOY! A few days ago, as we took down our Christmas decorations, I brought out some of my decorations that had been put away and one of them is a plaque that says CHOOSE Joy!  What a reminder!  It IS a choice!

The Scripture says that if we know to do good and don’t do it, it is sin!  (James 4:17).  I know what to do to be right with the LORD, to feel good, and to accomplish my goals.  I don’t need to make resolutions.  I have studied health, wellness from a physical and spiritual point of view.  I already know what I need to do.   I just need to DO what I know is right.

So for 2018, I won’t make NEW resolutions.  I already read my Bible, take care of my health by eating well and having good personal habits.  I will stay the course and I will be intentional about choosing Joy when staying the course is hard,  inconvenient, or awkward.

WHY do I keep on no matter what?  For the GLORY of GOD, I will stay the course and choose Joy while I do it!

May God give you a peace that passes understanding and Joy in your heart no matter what your circumstance!

Happy New Year!

Why Do We Wait?

I saw an article today in a popular women’s magazine about women who had lost weight and improved their health over the past year.  All were smiling and all were pleased with the results.  As I read their stories, I saw a pattern that truly disturbs me.

Every single one of them had a crisis in their life before they decided to make changes to improve their lives with better health!  Three were diagnosed prediabetic, one had both parents die with heart issues and one even had a heart attack herself.  All of the women in the article had issues that a better eating plan could have helped or even prevented.

Why, oh why do we wait until we have the loss of a loved one or a debilitating diagnosis before we seek to be healthier?  All of these women had measurable improvements, but sadly, too many people wait too late to really improve their situation.

I spoke with a doctor once about eating habits and using wellness products to improve vitality and quality of life.  He said that sadly, people only come to him for that kind of help when they have already destroyed themselves with bad food and medications. He told me there was no way to undo the damage present in those that come to him.  He said it was just too little, too late by the time most people contacted him for help.

Why, oh why do we wait when we could be choosing life with every bite we eat and every drop we drink?

Two reasons:  One,  we don’t really understand or believe that food matters!  Two, we think the seriously bad stuff won’t really happen to us from what we eat. We see lots of people eating bad who are doing okay… Ah, how we deceive ourselves. Eventually, it catches up with us.

It is really small things that add up to health quality or health disaster:

Will it be an apple or a candy bar?

Will it be carrot sticks or chips?

Will it be eggs or sugared cereal?

Will it be real butter or synthetic butter flavored margarine?

Will it be soda or water?

We could go on and on.

Choose foods that improve the quality of your life!

Choose to drink more water and less of other drinks!

What you eat and drink truly matters!

Research it for yourselves.  People’s lives are changed daily by eating better, drinking clean water and moving more.

Just as Moses said to the children of Israel, I want to say to you:

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; (Deuteronomy 30:19)

His topic was serving the LORD,  which included instructions for eating wisely.  My topic is food and drink for health and wellness.  Both are valid truths.

Choose LIFE!

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.                             1 Corinthians 10:31

1000 Days & Counting!

1,000 Days!

Yes, I am still counting.  I feel it is just as important for me to count my days off sugar as it is for an alcoholic to count their days off alcohol.  I was a sugar and food addict.

Most folks want a quick fix for their health issues.  They go to the doctor and they want a pill or shot to fix their problems.  Very few want to do the REAL work it takes to be healthy or regain their health from years of bad habits and unhealthy eating.

That was me for years and years.  Sick and sick and tired of being sick, yet buying thousands of dollars of supplements, taking weekly massages, and never getting better.  I knew what to do.  I had been under the care of a natural practitioner in 1993 and 1994 and I got better when I made healthy changes.  The problem was I didn’t have a conviction about it.  I was just doing it temporarily to feel better.  As soon as I felt better, I went back to my unhealthy ways.  My condition grew rapidly worse than ever.

Then, in November, 2009, I was really in pitiful shape, with constant pain from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, severe acid reflux, frozen shoulders, a dowager’s hump and shingles.

I started eating better, so I was gradually improving.  I remembered how well I felt back in 1993 & 1994 and I began reducing bad foods and increasing good, healthy foods.  In May, 2010, I watched this video and the LORD used it to convict me that I needed to make permanent changes.

I urge you to watch it.  This man has no website and no book to sell.  He is passionate about it because he sees people dying and suffering from ill health.

Sugar is a huge factor in chronic disease and illness.  When I obeyed the LORD’s prompting to NEVER do sugar again, He opened my mind to recreating our family favorites with natural alternatives.  During June, 2010, I made a plan and the last day I knowingly ate sugar was July 11.  (FYI – sugar is hidden in so many things.  Some restaurants even marinate steaks in it!)

In the last 1,000 days, we have had three sugar free holiday seasons and numerous birthdays, weddings and other special occasions.  I am here to tell you that there is fun food without sugar.  In fact, the food we eat now is guilt free and delicious!  Best of all, the food we eat now does not make us feel lethargic or tired.  It energizes us.

My companion for this journey has been my daughter, Hannah.  She is a great support and encouragement to me.  She has converted many recipes and worked to make this successful, too.   You can read her post of our 1,000 days here: http://sweetsuccess4u.wordpress.com/2013/04/05/one-thousand-days/

We have an abundant sugar free life!  I feel better than I did 20 years ago!  I am thankful to the LORD for all His many blessings.  I am thankful first of all for salvation.  I am thankful for the conviction to take keep myself and my family healthy.   My number one purpose in life is to serve and glorify the LORD.  Good health and vitality means I can serve Him better than ever before.

Soli Deo Gloria!
Ladonna
